Two Years...

"Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,

You didn't grow under my heart - but in it."
~ Fleur Conkling Heylinger

Tsegereda and Rodas in 2009

 May 12, 2012.
Two years.
Ours.
I look back at pictures of the girls when they were in Ethiopia and I can't believe they are the same sprites that flit about my house now.  They have grown so much, inside and out.  It seems in so many ways that they have always been here, taking their rightful place in our family.  It seems almost impossible that their life was so very different once upon a time.  But, looking at the pictures, their eyes are the same, reminding me of the roots they share and the journey we took across miles and cultures to bring them home.  We brought them home in June of 2010, but they became our daughters, legally, on May 12, 2010.  Best Mother's Day gift ever!

Tsegereda and Rodas, Spring 2012

Celebrating two years of sugar and spice.

May has been a fun, whirlwind month.  Dance recitals, school programs, field trips, class parties and the end of school packed the month full of chaos.  The kids were sad to say good-bye to school, actually, but now are excited for the summer activities to begin.  Swim team, tennis lessons, b-ball camp, scout camp, triathlons, soccer, library reading programs and swimming lessons are going to keep me and Sweet Pea (our van) running hither and thither all summer.  I shouldn't have written that...I'm already exhausted just looking at the list!  Ahhhh.  Summer.

Well, before I get ahead of myself, here's a recap of some of the fun we had this month:
Last day of preschool...until next year!

Wy after finishing the Hayden Cog Run 5K--one of the oldest running races in Colorado--in 24 minutes.

Noah and Colt coming in to the Cog 5K finish line at 28 minutes.

Our little dancers.  They Sang in the Rain and made Everybody Dance Now!
New tenants in the back pasture: Vixen, Hobbles and kits Rosa and Sparkles.  The kids and I love watching the antics of the foxes and trying to figure out if Hobbles is Mom and Vixen her babysitting daughter from last year or if Hobbles is Dad and Vixen is Mom. Hmmm.  Need a high-powered telescope to determine that one.

Some hiking Mortensons at the Mortenson Memorial Day Reunion in Vernal, UT.

Wyatt, Jasper and Noah with cousins (and their best buds) Parker and Tyson.

Mom showing Wyatt that Dad's not the only one with a little kick. (0:
